Foreign student are asked to prove that they have a minimum level in French language and are asked ideally to provide to the administration a proof of an officially recognised French Language Test.

Foreign students are allowed to apply to study at ESBANM within the framework of the 4 following devices:

1 - the entrance exam

It concerns the potential students wishing to study full-time in L1 (first year)

2 - The commission giving recognition of foreign qualifications as equivalents to French ones

It concerns the potential students wishing to study full-time in L2, L3, M1 or M2.

3a - an individual project

It concerns the foreign students who are not eligible to one of the 5 programmes listed to the next point

3b - study period

It concerns the students who want to study at ESBANM within the framework of one of the 5 programmes listed below:

  1. SOCRATES/Erasmus,
  2. C.R.E.P.U.Q (Quebec Conference of Deans and Principals),
  3. D.A.A.D/O.F.A.J,
  4. Cooperation agreement with the « Concordia university », MONTREAL (Quebec/Canada),
  5. Cooperation agreement with the « TOKYO University of the Arts - Gedai », JAPON.

Your application will be registered only if the conditions below are respected:

The 4 documents below must be forwarded, by e-mail, in PDF format, to hubert.bernier@esba-nantes.fr:

  • The application form entirely filled up and signed
  • A letter of motivation of at least 1 page A4, use the layout which suits you best, but try to keep to the following headings: Project title - Project aim(s) – Intended project content – Stages intended for the project – Intended means of the project and Justification of the choice of the ESBANM, linked to the project
  • A Curriculum Vitae,
  • A portfolio in which you present 15 examples maximum of your artistic work (no CDRom, no DVD, no BLOG)

Term dates

1st semester 2012 - 2013:
End of September to Mid January (lecture period)
One week assessment at the end of the lecture period

2nd semester 2012 – 2013:
January to Mid May (lecture period)
One week assessment at the end of the lecture period

Christmas holidays: 24th December 2012 to 4th January 2013
Winter holidays: one week in February 2013 (dates have to be confirmed)
Spring holidays: two weeks in April 2013 (dates have to be confirmed)

Deadlines for sending files

There are one CPSVE (Pedagogic and Scientific Committee of the Life Student) by month, which is in charge of the examination of the applications from foreign student.

For students who want to apply for the 1st semester or the whole year:

Applications must be received not later than March 20th, April 17th, May 22nd or June 19th.


For students who want to apply for the 2nd semester:

The ESBANM will organize 3 CPSVE, in October, November and December, but the dates aren't decided yet.

The study period can be realized in:

  • in L2 (2nd year) during the 1st semester, the second semester or the whole year,
  • in L3 (3rd year) during the 1st semester or the whole year (Foreign students are not allowed to study in our institution only during the second semester of the 3rd year.
  • in M1 (4th year) during the 1st semester, the second semester or the whole year,
  • in M2 (5th year) during the 1st semester or the whole year (Foreign students are not allowed to study in our institution only during the second semester of the 5th year.

Diplomas

If a foreign student who is registered in L3 or M2 for the whole academic year wishes to apply for the final diploma (DNAP: National Diploma of Fine Arts in L3) or (DNSEP: National Higher Diploma of Fine Arts Expression in M2), l’ESBANM will take a decision individually, awaiting in the same time the decision which will be taken on that subject by the French Ministry of the Culture.

Other information :

  • Foreign students have the same status as ESBANM students,
  • Foreign students are enrolled at ESBANM in the same year as they are enrolled in their home institution
  • Foreign students pay no registration fees
  • All classes are given in French, apart from the English class.
